Guidance & Support Services

Indivdual Counseling is when a student meets with a student support staff member on an individual basis. Students can discuss an array of issues they may be struggling with in a supportive, nonjudgmental, and confidential manner. Information shared in these sessions is strictly confidential!  

Students can be self-referred, teacher referred, or parent referred for counseling services.

Individual Counseling is conducted by the School Social Worker, Mrs. Amanda Robilotto, the School Counselors, Ms. Stacey Ranzie and Ms. Sarah Busch, or the School Psychologist, Ms. Joanna Schroeder.

We have found that many middle school students have similar issues and concerns. The Mutual Aid Support Group Program was created to address many of these issues. It is important for students to know that they are not alone. During the group discussions, students share their concerns and offer support and feedback to each other. The exact focus of the groups can vary from year to year, depending on the needs of the student population. Participation is voluntary and the issues discussed are strictly confidential!

Groups are usually held during lunch and exploratory periods. Students may sign up for groups via the online group survey, which is presented at the beginning of the school year, or they can speak with us privately about joining a group throughout the school year.

Study Skills

In this group we will focus on skills and tips to be successful in school. We'll discuss how mindset and habits of mind can lead to positive outcomes. Ideas for organization, time management, and studying will be shared. Students will also have the opportunity to actively utilize their study skills during group. Offered Mondays 9th period, all grades welcome!

Self Care and Self Esteem Building

This group is all about you! We will focus on strategies to help you become more confident, learn how to address anxiety, stress, & fear, and how to become more mindful. In order to be the best you, you need to take care of yourself! Offered Thursdays 9th period, all grades welcome!

New Student

This group is for students that are entering Seaford Middle School from an out of district school, parochial school, or relocating into the Seaford Community. It is to have a safe place for new students to realize they are not alone and to become aqcuainted with a group of students as soon as they begin their middle school experience. This is done to ease their transition into a new school environment. This group is conducted by the School Social Worker, Mrs. Nancy J. Fitzgerald.

I'll Be There For You

These past years have been hard on everyone. Some of us experienced the death or illness of family or friends. Many of us have felt alone because we haven't been able to see friends or family as much as we'd like to. This group provides support for students who are going through a major loss. Offered Tuesdays 9th period, all grades welcome!

Friendships in Middle School

Our friendships should be healthy and positive! In this group we will teach you how to develop the skills and strategies needed to create and maintain healthy friendships. This group will cover conflict resolution, self advocacy, and more! Offered Wednesdays 9th period, all grades welcome!

Yoga + Stress Management

In this group you will learn and practice easy, beginner level yoga poses and breathing techniques to help you create a calm and positive mindset while reducing stress. Offered Wednesdays 9th period, all grades welcome!

At times students need services beyond those offered in Seaford Middle School. When that occasion arises, student support services maintains and updates a list of appropriate referral sources that can be given to parents and legal guardians. A student support staff member is always available to help in the referral process.

Team meetings are a way for parents to discuss their child's academic and behavioral progress throughout the year. Team meetings are held whenever it is deemed necessary either by the parent, teacher, administrator or a student support services staff member. Parents, the student's teachers, and, at times, the student, will meet to discuss any concerns at hand. A plan will be created to assist the student in becoming as successful as they can be academically, emotionally and socially. 

This year, team meetings will be held virtually through Zoom. To schedule a meeting, please contact your students School Counselor at 516-592-4221.

This is a series of parent workshops, held monthly, in the Conference Room at Seaford Middle School. The workshops are one hour in length and address a variety of issues common to most parents. We discuss the topic, offer information, resources and then address any other concerns parents might have regarding the topic or their child.

Workshops are conducted by Seaford School Social Workers, Ms. Robilotto (MS), and Mrs Klein (HS) and Mrs DeMieri (Manor). Pre-registration is not required. All are welcome!!
